West Africa is one of the world’s most vulnerable regions to climate variability, with changes in temperature and rainfall already affecting livelihoods, food security, and overall stability. This is compounded by a dependence on rainfed agriculture, rapid population growth, poverty, and inadequate access to safe water and sanitation.
As an entity that represents 15 national chambers of commerce throughout West Africa, the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FEWACCI) serves as a platform for regional public-private partnerships and intra-regional dialogue. The organization gives the business community in the region a voice and serves as a tool to foster development and reduce poverty, promoting economic integration and private sector development in West Africa.
In May 2024, FEWACCI joined the OCHA-UNDP Connecting Business initiative (CBI).
FEWACCI is also a member of the United Nations office for Disaster Risk Reduction ARISE network whose aim it to promote disaster risk reduction and resilience in West Africa and beyond.
To learn more about the network, please visit the FEWACCI website.
