Centro Nacional de Apoyo para Contingencias Epidemiologicas y Desastres (CENACED)

CENACED, CBI and other partners are collaborating in Mexico to: 

• Increase information dissemination to the private sector and build a multi-stakeholder collaboration platform; 

• Build the capacity and strengthen the resilience of businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to withstand and recover from emergencies; 

• Embed the private sector in resilience and disaster risk management strategies and programs, including programmes on urban and rural resilience and SMEs reactivation; 

• Analyse available data on disaster risks and vulnerabilities to facilitate risk-informed investment and to develop programmes to reduce those risks and vulnerabilities; 

• Map and monitor private sector engagement and the coordination of activities, targeting programmes to address gaps and measuring the impact of those programs; 

• Share best practices from Mexico on private sector engagement regionally and internationally, and; 

• Establish a regional private sector network for Latin America and the Caribbean. 

In 2021, CENACED continued to offer support to communities affected by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, through a psychological assistance hotline, which received 14,100 calls in 2021, the donation of hygiene kits for medical personnel and the provisioning of pre-paid cards to families who had lost their jobs due to the pandemic.

Together with ARISE, the Tigres soccer team, and KPMG, CENACED also distributed hygiene kits to over 100 families affected by flooding in Tula, Hidalgo, during the hurricane season.

Additionally, in solidarity with Haiti, CENACED also collected donations and sent 200,000 masks to the country after the August earthquake.
